This is interesting. I always recommend the opposite approach with the Zeigarnik Effect - the afternoon shutdown in the style of Cal Newport so that the unfinished work doesn't pull your mind back when you're supposed to be with family or friends.
Thanks Jan. I completely understand where you're coming from, and I think for those things that make you really anxious it's probably not a good formula. In those cases, you just need to do whatever it takes to reduce anxiety levels. But for everything else - the dull stuff.... maybe this approach would work well.
