Interesting! I've never heard of this technique before. I'll give it a shot.
My go to reset button is a quick 10-20 minute nap lol. But I also like going on a quick brisk walk (which qualifies as a cross crawl). That gives me an energy boost and mental clarity.
Hi Haider, thanks so much for reading and engaging. Did you give it a go?
Yes a nap always works a treat for me too, provided I’m at home. Funnily enough, people tend to frown on you when you go to sleep in the corner of the office :)
Yes a brisk walk definitely is cross crawl, especially if you’re really swinging your arms and don’t care who’s watching!
Thanks Selda! I will definitely give it a go and try this technique. The one I have used to stay centred before important meetings is to breath rhythmically (1. Breath in 2. Pause 3. Breath out 4. Pause). During a leadership programme I was part of a few years back I have learnt how this simple task help getting control of our physiology. The concept is that controlling your breath in a specific way will stabilise your emotional state (as changes your HRV and accordingly brain function). Looking forward to trying the cross-crawling!!
That’s awesome Gabriella! Yes breathing is such a powerful tool and there are so many different techniques. You should read James Nestor’s book Breath. It’s brilliant. I like to use the breathe in, then breathe in again, and then breathe out technique to regain control of my physiology. It works almost instantly. Thank you for reading and engaging!
I’m really looking forward to try this! I didn’t know some hacks like this that can be quickly implemented would be possible. In general, what I’m doing to have a maximum of focus and energy for the day to come, is having a run directly after waking up and before having breakfast, but it takes a bit more time and motivation haha! Thanks for sharing
Wow Aaron, that's great that you can get a run in before breakfast! Yes, this exercise is literally 1 or 2 minutes. I do a set of 20 counts and then do that maybe 3 or 4 times. It works really well for me. Let me know how you get on with it!
Hi Selda, that's a great tip, I had no idea. I learned a similar one a few years ago: Right before you give a presentation or speak in front of an audience, by yourself, strike the 'Superman' pose. It is scientifically proven to boost your confidence while lowering stress. It really works! Have a great Monday!
I've heard of the 'superman' pose as well. It's not one that I use very often, but I think I will incorporate it into my pre-important meeting routine as well! Thanks for the reminder :)

Hahaha you're right about the nap thing. I used to take a quick nap in my car during my lunch break lol.
These days, my go to reset is definitely my lunch time walk.
Haven't given your method a try yet but will do definitely.
